A Subaru Forester's fuel tank sits low enough to catch rocks and branches on rutted trails, and a puncture there is a trip-ending problem. LP Aventure's Gas Tank Skid Plates shield it with 3/16 inch aluminum, mounting directly to the chassis so there's no loss of ground clearance.
